Keeping in Touch – October 2024

Client Newsletter

Welcome back to our loyal clients and welcome to our new clients. Thank you for choosing Jones Insurance. Upgrading our customer service is front of mind for us this quarter. Since 17th March 2023, the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) added layers of compliance, we didn’t have previously. This has been really good to ensure advisers are doing the right thing for New Zealanders, but I have found once we complete the necessary, disclosures, notes and reports for every review, and/or conversation we have with our new and loyal clients, our actual time with clients has decreased. We are working towards more efficient systems, templates and workflow, to enable us to offer you advice when you need it. So far in 2024 we have more claims than ever before, these take priority, because this is when our clients need us most. We send this email bi-monthly to ensure you see our name and think about your insurance plan, has anything changed? Would you like to discuss “rate for age” premiums vs level premiums? Would you prefer to pay a little more now to ensure your premiums are not too high as you get older? You may have set up Life & Trauma cover, and never got around to setting up good income protection for yourself. Do contact me and we can discuss your questions and look at the best options for you and your family. Have you booked an insurance review with us in the last 2 years? If you haven’t and you would like to book an insurance review, please email Jayne at info@jonesinsurance.co.nz to set up a time that suits you to chat with me. We will lock it in. Remember if your premiums are becoming unmanageable, and you are struggling financially, let me know and we will look at ways you maybe able to decrease your premiums. Thank you so much for trusting me and Jones Insurance to continue looking after your personal insurance plan – please do keep in touch.

Keeping up with JIC

Last week Paula received an award from Fidelity Life as one of their top 30 advisers in NZ, for Excellence and Commitment to Customer Engagement.

Special Events Increases

Most Insurance Companies offer Special Events Increases on your current cover without medical underwriting. Special Events can be such things as:

Purchasing a New Home, Residential Investment, Holiday Home or Residential Land purchase

Receiving an increase in your Annual Salary

  • A new baby
  • Getting Married or entering a Civil Union
  • Death of a family member

There are some limitations around when and how much you can increase your cover under this benefit, these do vary depending on your provider.

Contact me if you have had a Special Event and would like to find out more

What is Mortgage Cover?

Mortgage repayment cover provides you a financial safety net should you be unable to work as a result of sickness or injury. The monthly benefit is designed to cover either your mortgage repayments or a portion of your lost income. Everyone with a mortgage should have this cover.

We can obtain very good policy wording and payments at claim time are paid to you not the bank.

NIB’s Top 5 Claims – October 2024:

Recipe of the Month – Banana Choc Chip Muffins

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 ripe bananas, peeled and mashed
  • 1 cup Meadow Fresh Milk, any type (250ml)
  • ¾ cup Chelsea Soft Brown Sugar (150g)
  • ¼ cup Olivani Pure Olive Oil (60ml)
  • 2 ½ cups Edmonds Standard Grade Flour (375g)
  • 4 tsp Edmonds Baking Powder
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (200g)

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 180°C bake / 160°C fan bake. Line a 12-hole regular size muffin tin with paper cases.
In a large bowl, lightly whisk the eggs, mashed bananas, milk, Chelsea Soft Brown Sugar and oil together.
Add flour, baking powder and chocolate chips. Mix until just combined (don’t over mix – the ingredients should just be gently stirred together to combine).

Spoon into prepared tin (filling the cases nearly to the top for 12 big muffins) and bake for 15 – 18 minutes, until puffed and golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.

Delicious served warm, but will keep well in an airtight container for at least 3 days.

Enjoy!

‘This time, like all times, is a very good one if we but know what to do with it.’
